The challenge was to create a brand that would have impact globally and stand out from a crowd of environmental organisations.


The Commission’s brand needed to stress global expertise, independence and environmental protection, but most critically, the urgency of turning around this global problem.


We researched and created a brand/logo, website and design assets that really cut through internationally. The rich blue reflects the diversity and value of the oceans whilst the high-impact orange alerts policy makers to the need to take action now.


The design was extremely popular in research with both global stakeholders and the public – with many stating that it reflected the Commission’s key qualities well.

The Commission’s final report on protecting our Oceans has had real impact on policy makers. Critically a United Nations Working Group in this area committed to increasing high seas protection through a new agreement.
